Today I am extremely excited to be closing the blog tour for Jay Raven’s book in a brand new series, Crimson Siege, which is book one of his Blood Riders series. Book two is being written as you read this and will be out soon.

About the book

Crimson Siege ebook cover

In the Godforsaken badlands of Transylvania the fragile truce between mankind and monsters is about to explode…

When bounty hunters target one of 19th century Europe’s most feared vampire clans, the last place any lawman wants to be is caught in the middle…

But for Anton Yoska, Lord Marshal of the Imperial lands south of the Carpathian Mountains, fate has trapped him in a supernatural stand-off that can end only in a bloodbath.

A gang of mercenaries led by Anton’s former army comrade Milosh Drubrick have captured vampire aristocrat Stefan Modjeski, wanted for a string of frenzied murders, and have come to Anton to claim the reward. And as Stefan’s predatory undead kin lay siege to the jailhouse, Anton is faced with an agonising choice – hand over his prisoner and abandon the bounty hunters to their unspeakable fate, or stand and fight.

The jailhouse defenders are outnumbered and out of options. It’s a battle that can’t be won, certain slaughter for them all, and Anton can’t trust his scheming allies. But Lord Marshal Yoska isn’t about to surrender.

For he’s an experienced vampire hunter, a dangerous man when cornered, and a single minded warrior who knows there are worse things to fear than death…

My Review

When I was asked if I would like to review this book for the tour I had never heard of Jay before so was a bit dubious as I am quite specific about what horror books I read and enjoy, but when the word vampire was mentioned I knew it would not be your usual Horror but a cross-genre piece, which i am always happy to read.

The book follows the ancient fight between Vampires and vampire hunters, and is set in the 19th Century where the bitter feud between man and vampire is about to begin again.

I really liked this book and after reading the first chapter I got so engrossed that I didn’t realise how long I had been reading for and how far into the book I got.

The way the author describes both the locations and characters makes visualising what is happening that much easier and keeps you hooked throughout as you really want to know what is going to happen next and who will win the fight.

As this is a horror/gothic/vampire book there is a lot of violence in it but this doesn’t take anything away from the story as it is not gratuitous and does add to the story without detracting from it.

This is book one in the series, and if the next one is anything like this I can imagine it is going to be a best selling series, and I can’t wait to read it to find out.

About the Author

Jay Raven is the author of Gothic chillers and historical horror reminding readers that the past is a dangerous place to venture, full of monsters and murderous men. He blames his fascination with vampires, witches and werewolves on the Hammer Horror films he watched as a teenager, but living in a creepy old house on the edge of a 500-acre wood may have something to do with it.
